Hopes for an Irish rail revival begin at Armagh

The first of October, 2024. Sixty-seven years to the day since closure. It’s taken a while, but the campaign group seeking to reestablish a railhead in Armagh held an over-subscribed public meeting in the ceremonial city. The Portadown Armagh Railway Society may look like an enthusiasts group, but this is a well-organised and well-funded lobby group, with the ear of elected representatives, business interests and the community at large.
