London – Stirling go-ahead for Grand Union

An open-access service has finally been given the green light. Grand Union Trains, an ambitious would-be operator, has made it third time lucky with their proposals to run direct services between London and Stirling. The application will see several communities in Central Scotland gain direct access to London for the first time, as well as introducing open access competition for the first time on the busy West Coast Main Line. Trains may even carry express logistics as well as passengers.
