Škoda Group rolls out autonomous Tampere tram

Is this the Finnish for tram drivers? Perhaps not, but it may be the beginning of the end. In Tampere, Škoda Group has successfully demonstrated a driverless tram at the Tampereen Ratikka tram depot. However, the streets of Finland are not about to be overrun by terminator trams any time soon. The exercise was part of what Škoda calls their Smart Depot ecosystem. The group says they hope to revolutionise the efficiency and safety of tram operations.
