Last month, RailTech interviewed a rail engineer who was fired after the new UK rail minister demanded his dismissal for raising safety concerns at London’s Euston Station. Peter Hendy, then head of Network Rail, also threatened the engineer’s employer with the loss of public contracts if action was not taken. Four weeks on, the UK rail industry is still reeling from the incident and what it means for future contracts, as the engineer in question Gareth Dennis explains.
