‘Snail’s pace’: German rail lobby slams lag in reactivation of old lines

Out with the new, in with the old. The Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) and the Pro-Rail Alliance have hit out against the speed at which Germany is reactivating its decommissioned lines, and its funding. Citing new data, they say that while new rail routes are improving, the reactivation of old lines is moving at a “snail’s pace”. Meanwhile, one expert said that “anything less” than investing fully in the country’s “dilapidated infrastructure” would “harm Germany as a business location” in the future.
