Hitachi glitch halts new Milan metro line a day after launch
The new metro extension in Milan has gotten off to an inauspicious start, after the line had a serious malfunction—apparently due to its Hitachi-run software—less than 24 hours after it was launched. Having taken nearly 15 years to complete, with construction overrunning by nine years, the opening of the M4 line was expected to give Milan’s public transport manager ATM a sigh of relief. No such luck.
