New alliance agreement for Scottish railways

ScotRail, the Scottish government run passenger operator, and Network Rail, the UK government infrastructure agency, have signed a strengthened alliance agreement. If that looks complicated – don’t worry. It is. Responsibility for the railways in Scotland lies between the devolved administration in Edinburgh and the UK administration in London. However, somehow, they manage to work together, and the two bodies have just signed a renewed alliance, which builds on an existing agreement.
