What we know so far: UK’s first ERTMS route reopens after fatal collision
The Cambrian line in Wales, the first rail route in the UK to be equipped with the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), is set to open for normal services from today following last week’s deadly train collision. The first fatal rail crash in years, an investigation is underway to discover the cause of the accident. It will also include a close analysis of how the standardised European safety system—meant to dramatically reduce such accidents—applied itself during the incident.
