Knorr-Bremse and Railnova join forces in rail digitalisation
German technology company Knorr-Bremse has purchased 32 per cent of the shares in Railnova, a Belgian supplier of railway telematics solutions and maintenance workflow software to the railway industry. The deal is a part of the Knorr-Bremse’s strategy towards digitalisation of the rail sector.
Knorr-Bremse acquired a minority stake of Railnova. However, the German supplier of braking systems and other equipment for rail and commercial vehicles hopes for fruitful cooperation with Railnova. “With more than 1,500 installed units and a fast-growing demand for their products their business model is market-proven – we are very happy to support Railnova’s further growth. Railnova’s telematics and maintenance workflow solutions improve asset availability and perfectly fits Knorr-Bremse’s innovation culture to create market-leading solutions for the digitalization of trains,” said Jürgen Wilder, Member of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse and responsible for the Rail Vehicle Systems division.
Railnova
Railnova was founded in 2010. The company is based in Brussels. Railnova develops monitoring and predictive solutions for rail operators, infrastructure managers and rolling stock companies. “Railnova is the innovation and technology leader in digital solutions for enhanced maintenance in the railway industry,” noted Jürgen Wilder. The Belgian company intends to simplify the everyday work of railway professionals by digitalising and automating the processes.
