DB unveils ‘Fan Capital Hamburg’ ICE for the Euro
In anticipation of the upcoming UEFA European Championship 2024™, Deutsche Bahn (DB) has announced the launch of its new EM-ICE, a revamped version of the ICE 4, set to commence service next week.
The EM-ICE boasts both exterior and interior redesigns tailored for football enthusiasts. Following an Instagram poll conducted from April 19th to 24th, the people have spoken: the EM-ICE will henceforth be known as the “Fan Capital Hamburg. In a closely contested battle, Hamburg clinched the title with 16 per cent of the total votes, relegating Munich (14 per cent) to second place and Berlin (13 per cent) to third. A staggering 26,000 fans participated in the poll, which featured all ten host cities of the UEFA EURO 2024™ tournament.
Come April 30th, the “Fan Capital Hamburg” EM-ICE will embark on its inaugural journey, serving as a mobile ambassador for the football extravaganza. DB stated in a press release that, as the official national partner of UEFA EURO 2024™, they are committed to facilitating eco-friendly transportation for fans and teams across Europe, with special offers and increased train services during championship fixtures.
To mark the occasion, a presentation and christening ceremony for the redesigned ICE will take place at Frankfurt/Main main station, platform 1, from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. Among the attendees will be Dr. Michael Peterson, DB Board Member for Long-Distance Passenger Transport, Andreas Schaer, Managing Director of EURO 2024 GmbH, and Albärt, the beloved mascot of UEFA EURO 2024™.
